Velocity Endurance was created to separate marathon, half-marathon, and shorter-distance event development from the ultrarunning identity of Epic Ultras. The brands are related through founder Eric Steele, but they serve different event and editorial purposes.
Velocity Endurance focuses on road and select trail concepts at marathon distance and below. Epic Ultras remains centered on ultrarunning, endurance storytelling, education, history, media, and the broader ultra community.
The experience starts before race morning.
Course planning, communication, aid, timing, logistics, pricing, and finish-line execution all contribute to whether a runner feels respected by an event.
Launch after the fundamentals make sense.
Velocity Endurance favors deliberate development over announcing dates and details before the underlying event can support them.
Events should create value beyond registration totals.
Host-city fit, local relationships, volunteer experience, runner travel, and long-term reputation all matter in sustainable event development.
Built by Eric Steele
Velocity Endurance was founded by Eric Steele of Wichita, Kansas. Steele has spent more than three decades inside endurance sports as an ultrarunner, race director, organizer, writer, event builder, and community leader.
His event-development experience includes building races, coordinating logistics, recruiting and leading teams, marketing endurance events, and managing the operational pressure that comes with race-day execution.
Velocity Endurance applies that background to the marathon, half-marathon, and sub-ultra side of the sport.
Wichita and Round Rock
Velocity Endurance is currently preserving and evaluating concepts for a future Wichita Half Marathon and Round Rock Marathon. Both are under consideration for 2027. Neither should be treated as a confirmed event until an official announcement establishes a date, course, registration process, and final event details.
Epic Ultras
Epic Ultras is a related founder-led endurance property focused on ultrarunning media, storytelling, education, history, community, and the continuing exploration of what makes the sport and its people truly epic.
The relationship is simple: Velocity Endurance provides a distinct lane for marathon, half-marathon, and sub-ultra race concepts while Epic Ultras serves the ultra-distance and media side of the broader endurance ecosystem.
